 نوکریوں کے معاملے میں الحمدللّٰہ ہم قسمت کے دھنی واقع ہوئے ہیں۔ نوکریاں تو ماشااللّہ ہم ایسے بدلتے ہیں جیسے سیاستدان پارٹیاں اور ہیرونیں شوہر بدلتی ہیں۔البتہ  اتنی مروت  ضرور کرتے ہیں  کہ:

اگر اخباری اشتہار سے آفر لیٹر تک کے سفر کی رُوداد بیان کروں تو بلاگ کا ناول بن جائے۔ بس اتنا جان لیجئے کہ جب ایپلائی کیا تو فقط شادی شدہ تھے اور اپنے لخت جگر کی سالگرہ منا کر جوائن کیا۔ وہ جو غالبؔ نے کہا تھا ‘کون جیتا ہے تیری زلف کے سر ہونے تک’ وہ دراصل دفترِ سرکار میں عرضی کی شنوائی بارے کہا تھا۔ جہان دیدہ گھاگ بزرگان نے انٹرویو کے نام پر جو زبانی کلامی زیادتی کی وہ الفاظ کی گرفت سے باہر ہے۔ اسکے بعد سمجھ آئی کہ اجتماعی زیادتی زیادہ گھناؤنا جرم کیوں ہے۔ خیر، قصہ مختصر یہاں ہمیں آفر لیٹر ملا وہاں ہم نے گزشتہ کمپنی کو خیر آباد کہنا چاہا مگر  وہ داغدار ماضی کی طرح ساتھ چھوڑنے کو راضی نا ہوا اور نوٹس پیریڈ یوں گزرا جیسے خلُا کے مقدمے کی پیروی کرتے میاں بیوی ایک چھت تلے یوں رہ رہے ہوں کہ میاں روز کہے

“اوّل اوّل کی محبت کے نشے یاد تو کر”اور بیوی بھنا کر “مجھ سے پہلی سی محبت میرے ایکس ہزبینڈ نا مانگ”کا ورد شروع کردے۔

اللہ اللہ کرکے نوٹس پیریڈ ختم ہوا اور ہم دل میں جوش ولولہ امنگ اور ایسے ہی دیگر جذبات لیئے حجلہ سرکاری میں داخل ہوئے۔ یہاں ایک  غور طلب بات یہ ہے کہ ہم اپنے خیال میں کافی سلجھے ہوئے، سمجھدار اور کومپیٹنٹ انسان ہیں یہ الگ بات کبھی اسکا چرچا نہیں کیا۔ خیر، ہم جوائننگ دینے پہنچے اور وہاں سے ازلی کھجل خوارگی کا ایک نیا باب شروع ہوا۔

جن صاحب کو اپنی ڈگریاں و دیگر کاغذات جمع کروانے تھے وہ عمراً قائم علی شاہ سے بڑے نہیں تو چھوٹے بھی نہیں تھے۔ ہمیں دیکھتے پھر تعلیمی اسناد و ایکسپیرئنس لیٹرز دیکھتے اور سردست “ہونہہ” کرتے آگے بڑھتے جاتے، ہماری تقریباً تمام اسناد میں از اینڈ کی غلطیاں نکالیں اور ایسی کوتاہ بینیوں کو ملک کے روبہ زوال ہونے کا مورد الزام ٹھہرایا۔ اس قدر غلطیاں نکلتی دیکھ کر ہمارا مائینڈ کرنا بنتا تھا سو کیا، تس پہ وہ بولے “برخوردار تم ابھی سے اکتا گئے ہو آگے میرے سے بڑی بڑی فلمیں منتظر ہیں”۔ یہ مرحلہ بھی جیسے تیسے پار ہوا پھر ہیومن ریسورس اور ہمارے ہونے والے ڈیپارٹمنٹ کی سرد جنگ شروع ہوئی کوڈ ورڈز میں پتہ نہیں کیا کیا لکھ کر گھماتے رہے جس کا نتیجہ یہ نتھا کہ غلطی ہماری ہے۔ تادمِ تحریر بھی ہماری فائل لاپتہ ہے، سوائے کاغذ کے ایک ٹکرے کے ہم یہاں ملازم نہیں اسی سبب تنخواہ آتی ہے پر نہیں آتی۔ ہمیں تو چوکیدار تک دیکھ کر کہتا ہے

دفتر ہمارا ہے یہ  تمہارا نہیں

ڈپارٹمنٹ میں جو آئے تو دیکھا کہ اپنے کام کے علاوہ ہر فن میں یکتا ہیں۔ آٹھ گھنٹے بور ہوئے بغیر کیسے کاٹنے ہیں انہی سے سیکھا ہے۔ کیسی چھوٹی سے چھوٹی بات پہ سیر حاصل گفتگو کرتے ہیں کہ ریکارڈ شرما جائے۔ ہماری تیس سالہ زندگی کی سیکھی گندی باتیں ایک طرف اور یہاں چند ہفتوں کے دوران سیکھی باتیں ایک طرف۔ کام کو تنخواہ کا صدقہ سمجھتے ہیں اور فی زمانہ صدقہ کون کرتا ہے صاحب۔ بیلٹ کے سخت خلاف جوتے اور شرٹ کو منہ چڑھاتی پینٹ گویا یعنی کام تو بے ڈھنگا ہے فیشن بیہودگی کی حد تک بے ڈھنگا۔ باتیں ایسی ایسی کریں گے جیسے تمام تر پالیسیاں انہی سے پوچھ کر بنتی ہیں مشورے بھی ایسے نادر مگر “افسر” کے سامنے آتے ہی ایسے گھگھی بندھ جائے جیسے سنگدل محبوبہ کے سامنے تھوڑ دل عاشقوں کی۔

ہم جو بڑے ٹھاٹھ کیساتھ پرائیویٹ کمپنی سے ای میلز لکھتے پڑھتے آئے شروع میں جن  پہ علمی قابلیت جھاڑتے رہے اب انکی ڈاکٹری لکھائی میں فائلوں کے نوٹ پڑھنے و سمجھنے سے قاصر ہیں، پوچھیں توقابلیت کی جو زبانی دھاک بٹھائی ہے اس پہ برا اثر پڑتا ہے جو نا پوچھیں تو کام رکتا ہے۔ کام روکنے کی حد تک تو ہم نیم سرکاری افسر ہوگئے ہیں بس بغیرپڑھے  سمجھے فائل پہ ہاں نا کرسکنے کا انتظار ہے تاکہ مکمل سرکاری افسر بن سکیں۔

Spectrum of Heat-Stroke

In previous article you read about the ways of preventing heat stroke. Now here are certain points for you to differentiate between severity of the heat illnesses.

Firstly, to avoid unnecessary panic, one needs to know about the spectrum of this heat illness because not all its forms will lead to death.

The spectrum in increasing severity includes: Heat cramps, Heat syncope, Heat exhaustion, Heat stroke.

HEAT CRAMPS

  • Occurs during heavy muscular work in high temperature
  • Painful spasmodic cramps of skeletal muscle. This is a very frequent complain that you might yourself have experienced, but we never link it to dehydration and instead take painkillers for it.
  • Body temperature may be normal or slightly increased
  • Water or fruit juice and salt (preferably ORS) should be given by mouth.
  • In severe cases give saline through intravenous route.

HEAT SYNCOPE

  • Fainting, “black outs,” or syncope is the temporary loss of consciousness followed by the return to full wakefulness

SYMPTOMS:

  • Patient may present with extreme paleness and sweating
  • numbness and tingling of hands and feet
  • dizziness, nausea and possible disturbance of vision.

FIRST AID:

  • Leave the patient in lying down position and loosen tight clothing.
  • Do not give anything by mouth when the patient is unconscious.
  • If still unconscious, call a doctor.
  • If a known diabetic person is feeling faint and gives history of no oral intake since 6-8 hours, immediately check blood sugar levels and give him candy or glucose.

HEAT EXHAUSTION

It is characterized by giddiness and fainting followed by prolonged exposure to high temperature, sudden changes in posture, or exercise in hot weather. It is due to circulatory instability.

SYMPTOMS:

  • Normal body temperature.
  • Pale and clammy skin.
  • Profuse sweating, tiredness, weakness
  • Headache, dizziness and possible fainting.

FIRST AID:

  • Give sips if salt and water (one teaspoonful of salt per glass)
  • Lay him down and raise his feet. (8”-12”)
  • Loosen tight clothing.
  • Apply cool, wet cloth.
  • Use fan or A.C.

Heatwave, heat stroke, Karachi heat wave

The symptoms of heat syncope and heat exhaustion may seem to overlap however it is important to understand the difference in first aid management- if the person is unconscious then DO NOT GIVE ANYTHING BY MOUTH.

HEAT STROKE (SUN STROKE) MOST SEVERE TYPE

Occurs when a person usually without a head cover is exposed to radiant heat in the sun

SYMPTOMS:

  • Very high body temperature (107-110 F)
  • Skin hot, red and dry.
  • No sweating, rapid and strong pulse.
  • May be

FIRST AID:

  • Cool the body quickly by undressing and repeatedly sponging the bare skin with cool water.
  • Use fan or A.C.
  • Do not give stimulants.

If at any stage of the illness patient becomes unconscious and does not regain consciousness within few minutes then you should call a doctor or shift the person to the nearest hospital.
