Don’t Keep Calm, Its India Vs Pakistan!

Champions Trophy 2017 (#CT17) has started in full swing and it’s that time of year again when cricket becomes something more than just a game. Yes, its #PakVsInd or #IndVsPak for some, with Bleed Green, Go Greens, Win this one etc as status. Cricket is the most talked about topic on almost everyone social media platform in Pakistan, probably same enthusiasm in India because India vs Pakistan is mother of all cricket contests! Pakistan & India will face each other in Champions Trophy tournament for the 4th time since year 2003.

#PakVsInd, #IndVsPak, #CT17

I am not a cricket expert or a critique, just an enthusiast, for me stats doesn’t matter much. But simple Googling got me excited that out of last three #PakVsInd matches in Champions Trophy, Pakistan has won two. As Pakistan Captain Sarfaraz mentioned in his press conference earlier, we don’t have anything to lose but everything to gain. Also, Pakistan is a very unpredictable team on their day they can beat any team no matter what and vice versa. And I know for a fact that whenever India & Pakistan come face to face, its never about skill or tactics, its all about nerves, the one with better control over nerves, Wins in the end! ICC, very rightly claim ‘where heroes become Champions

Though our hopes and wishes are with team green but here are few ground realities we must take into consideration:

  • India is defending Champions Trophy title this time around
  • Pakistan has never won Champions Trophy
  • India is currently at #3 and Pakistan at #8 in ICC’s ODI team rankings
  • Pakistan’s winning record against India is better (except for World Cup matches)
  • Pakistan’s is an inexperienced team with limited International Cricket exposure, Indian team on the contrary is more experienced and has more International Cricket exposure at hand

But, as any other fan, I am hopeful, I am wishful. whenever I think of #PakVsInd, the first images that come to memory are Afridi’s sizes to Ashwin in Asia Cup, Wahab Riaz’s first ball yorker to Yuvraj Singh, Saeed Anwer’s 194 and above all, Miandad’s Six on the last ball! Mind just cant rest, nerves just can’t calm down, Btw, How can one keep calm, when its India Vs Pakistan!

#PakVsInd, #IndVsPak, CT17

I hope, today’s will be a great game of cricket and the better team should win. And in case India loses, I hope Suresh Raina won’t rant  on social media and blame his nephew later!

Thank you Raina’s Nephew

Hey Raina, this post is exclusively to thank you or your nephew, whoever it was, for all the awesomeness and bliss you brought to Pakistani cricket lovers, even after we lost the Semifinal.

Be sure, am not going to bash you or start a lecture about manners or down side of unlimited intake of booze. For, we Pakistani’s have much more sportsmanship unlike many others. See my last post, just before the Pakistan, India match.

Anyway, true, we supported South Africa in that last super-eight game. But that’s what Indians did by supporting Australia against Pakistan earlier that day. Having said that, to be realistic, our support outside the field technically didn’t hurt or influence the game by any means. So it was the Indian team that played bad and lost, not because of Pakistan’s support to South Africa.

Raina's Shit
Suresh Raina’s Tweet that he deleted later on.

Secondly my dear, we made it to Semifinals and you didn’t. Accept that fact and live with it for the rest of your life. You are a very good player but only in IPL on home grounds. Needless to say how heart-broken we were after losing semifinal. Shattered and started bashing our own heroes. We individually analyzed every player, called them names and what not. But that’s our way of loving/owning them.

But you my dear were a great help to provide us the opportunity to be united again and start bashing something collectively. You or your nephew, whoever, provided us utter bliss and enjoyment (go through these hashtags #RainaNephew, #TweetLikeRaina, #ReplaceMovieTitleWithNephew).  So thank you very much for that tweet you probably composed while you were extremely high of something, watching your IPL performances.

Raina Apology
Raina’s tweet apologizing about earlier tweet and putting the blame on his Nephew

If you go through social media (FB/Twitter) of both countries, before and after these matches, you’d find a great difference in attitudes of both countries; needless to say which one’s better, all hail Aman ki Asha. Now, that you’ve lost and have some time left for the IPL, take some-time out and learn how to play well on ground with bat rather playing with words on twitter later on, for which you have to apologize as well. And secondly, learn how to control emotions first, if not, at least accept your fault like a man. Although we forget our defeat because of your action, and apology later one, but dear a neighbor’s brotherly advice, your excuse is nothing but crap seriously, grow up.

Good luck for IPL, where you perform the best =D

Me not my Nephew

Saeen Ka Green Bhi Saeen

If we’d ask a random, non Asian cricket fan about best possible game of cricket, he’d for sure choose “Pakistan vs. India” on any day. Be it any tournament, any ground or any crowd across the globe, the best ever possible cricket match cum thriller, is when Pakistan and India plays against each other.

Everything that’s associated with cricket seems to be changed, all the myths, stats, pitch dynamics and what not. Cricket turns into war and ground becomes the battle field, bat and ball become nukes! I don’t know if that’s craze of the game or love for our respective nations, but this one cricket match seems to be the top-priority for millions of people across the border. Cricket is like an injection which makes patriotism flow in our veins and we suddenly start bleeding green and this green keeps us connected, united.

Today, 30th September 2012, Greens will take on blues at Premedasa stadium, Srilanka in super 8 round of World Cup T20. Pakistan has won all the matches so far in this world-cup, India lost to Australia a day before yesterday, also they lost that warm up game against Pakistan. But I guess none of these things matter when both these teams come face to face, Josh takes over hosh, passion takes over technique and situation takes over stats.MissionGreen

Match is scheduled at 7 PM but since 9 Am today, I’ve come across so many FB posts, wall papers, twitter trends and what not. Strange hardly 5% of them talking about “stats” or ground, pitch, weather conditions, in form batsmen etc. and other 95% only praying, wishing and showing passion & love for their team. Height of passion, unity, faith blend with cricket-craze and charged up with patriotism has taken over FB group posts, blog-posts and Twitters Trends, like #MissionGreen #BleedGreen and greenifyed DPs all over social space on both sides, or in Ali Gul Pir’s words “Saeen to Saeen, Saeen ke fans bhi Saeen one can’t decide if it’s all about cricket, I guess it’s beyond that! PakVInd

People calling each other and making plans, inviting others to watch the match together, being nice to other countrymen, sharing pride and fun moments with complete strangers, hugs and high fives, smiling at each other just because both need this wicket at the moment, dancing up with every boundary regardless of age or social status, forgetting all the worries and issues and keeping all the differences aside.

You won’t see any Sindi, Balochi, Punjabi or Pathan today. It’s Pakistan all over Pakistan. It’s all green.  That’s what cricket means for Pakistan. Bringing us all closer, making us united. I wish we all stay like this forever. Let’s take this golden opportunity and capitalize on it.

Let’s all hope and pray that our team performs well, delivers what it is capable of and ends up winning. Let’s bleed green. Since we are a very very jazbati nation when it comes to cricket and that too against India, please let’s be a little realistic and tolerant. Enjoy good cricket, be nice people, have sportsman spirit. Let’s support our team regardless of any other thing, praise them, endorse them, even if they don’t win, we stand by them. Am sure our support means a lot to our team, for they are no others but PAKISTAN, as much as U and I.  Our team is like an army in itself. We have so much armors, we have such options. We could Gulldoze, Ajmalified them, lala-fied them or smash like Nazir & Jamshed, just hope and pray that they don’t Akmal us back =P BleedGreen

We are all Saeens, and our Saeen is Green! Let’s Green it Saeen, Let’s rock, Pakistan, Let’s unite, Let’s win, Let’s “Green Them”, Lets #BleedGreen!!

There are still few hours remaining in the match, I hope and wish, we’d be jubilant by the end of the match as well.
